The New Decorating Book is the first book I recommend to people wanting inspiration. As always, Better Homes has gorgeous photos in a variety of styles, and lots of great ideas that can be transformed into budget projects and homey touches.
This is my favorite book on cottage decorating. Full of beautiful photos, clever ideas and good guidance, this is the one to own if you like cottage style. I refer to it often for inspiration.
This is a new book that really surprised me, written by an author who is local to me. The book is replete with examples of a more elegant form of cottage style, and had some good guidance for achieving it. Beautiful photos, with lots of ideas for accessorizing and color.
The Biggest Book of Decorative Painting is all about color, what do to with your walls, and style. It has a great bit of inspiration if you are trying to choose a color scheme, and the photos are so inspirational this could be a decorating book apart from the painting advice!
The Art of Accessorizing offers step by step lessons on how to get that professional look. Accessories can be the most important feature of a room, and Christi explains the process well, with great photos, and she encourages you to find your own way through her process. Excellent!
I LOVE Christmas! This book has been one of my two my mainstays for 5 years running. What can I say, it has decorating, food, homemade gifts...and beautiful photos!
Soft furnishings provides easy but elegant projects for the budget decorator. Few things other than paint help a decorator's budget more than sewing your own soft furnishings, and I highly recommend this book for professional results even for a beginner.
This book (and the original "When God Winks" ) are excellent for reminding us that everything and everyone are tied together, and everything happens for a reason. Inspirational, I read it to my kids.
